About National Water Hygiene Scheme

All UK water companies require individuals working at clean water sites or working on the clean water network – known as ‘Restricted Operations’, to hold a National Water Hygiene EUSR registration.

‘Restricted Operations’ includes working on service reservoirs, water pumping stations, water treatment works, springs, boreholes as well as working on the distribution network of water mains and service pipes.

If you are working on a ‘Restricted Operation’ as a water company employee or on behalf of a water company as their subcontractor or other organisation, such as Self-Lay Organisation (SLOs) then you need a National Water Hygiene EUSR registration.

Once you have successfully completed your National Water Hygiene training and assessment, you will understand the vital part you play in maintaining clean and safe drinking water and protecting public health.  You will be registered with EUSR, issued with a virtual National Water Hygiene EUSR card and can opt for a physical smart plastic card, which because of its blue colour, it’s also known as the ‘Blue Card’.

About E-Learning option for training

We provide an e-Learning option that offers flexibility and convenience, allowing individuals to complete the training at their own pace and without the need for in-person attendance.

The benefits of choosing the e-Learning route to National Water Hygiene registration include:

Flexibility:

  • Learners do not need to travel to a classroom

  • No need to schedule cohorts of learners together

  • Training can be completed at the learner’s own pace

  • No requirement for overnight accommodation

  • Can be done outside working hours

  • No limit to how many learners can take the training and assessment

Cost saving:

  • No requirement to set up classroom equipment for multiple users

  • A trainer is not required to deliver the training

  • Less time ‘off the job’ for learners

  • EUSR has invested in the e-Learning system so employers do not need to make a capital investment in an e-Learning platform of their own

Time saving:

  • e-Learning can be done in 2-3 hours, less than the half day face-to-face training
